Hi all - I was wondering if any of you knew any good tutorial sites that teach how to make CSS sprays? Of course, if it's as simple as importing a gif or something then please feel free to post instructions here. -Mike edit: animated would be nice, but I'll live with static

All you need to do is go to the options menu inside CSS and hit the Import Spray button on the multiplayer tab. Then select the file you want to use. You can import .bmp, .jpg, .tga and .vtf files.
I tend to make the file 512 x 512, it won't display at that in the game but it seems to import well and give a good result.
If you want the spray to have a transparent background then it will need to be a .tga and have a proper alpha channel defined, for which you will need Photoshop. If you don't have it I'm happy to format it for you, just email me the file, with a description of how you want it.
Not sure how to make it animated, I guess you would need to build a .vtf file, which is Valves own format. Maybe you can do this with the Source SDK, I'd have a look but it crashed last time I used it and now it won't load.
I'm happy to take suggestions from anyone for wight knuckle sprays, if anyone has any ideas for ones they would like to see.

I've been trying to make a portal one, based on what Steve was saying the other night. I've got a half-decent one which shows the blue portal leading to a room with a turret in, but I'd need to mess around to get it to spray at the right size and do the whole transparent background thingy. I do have photoshop, but I don't really know what I'm doing with it, so I may end up asking for your help later on (note: I don't actually think it's possible to make it spray the actual portal size, but it's worth a go) edit: I'm actually having good fun with this - it isn't the right size, but with some modifying I could get it to look quite cool - If you're interested I'll send you the TGA I'm using and you can find some way to insert the clan name into the image, maybe written on the far wall of the test chamber. (if you're interested of course)

Btw, does anyone know any opensource arty programs which deal with these file formats. I'm not sure if gimp does but will give it a shot!
